Metal Detecting – Private Land

Private Metal Detecting Sessions - Discover History Beneath Your Feet

Step onto some of Dorset’s most promising land and experience the thrill of uncovering history for yourself. Our private metal detecting sessions are a full day of exploration, teaching, and discovery - perfect for beginners who’ve never held a detector, or for seasoned searchers wanting expert insight into local history and top sites.

For £150 per person, you’ll receive an entire day’s guidance (6–8 hours) from an experienced detectorist, full use of top‑of‑the‑range equipment, and exclusive access to carefully selected permission land. Every session includes expert tuition on technique and settings, help identifying your finds, and advice on how to record discoveries properly under UK law.

We keep sessions small and personal – just you, or you and a couple of friends – ensuring every outing is tailored to your pace and interests. This is more than just a day out; it’s a chance to hold history in your hands.
We also provide support and guidance for responsible metal detecting across Dorset, including:

Advice on permissions, landowner agreements, and legal requirements

Opportunities for collaboration on archaeological projects

Updates on current surveys and responsible access to farmland

If you're a landowner looking to work with experienced detectorists, or a detectorist seeking ethical sites and support, feel free to get in touch.
